Press Release for the Digiteen™ Project 12-2 and the Digitween Project 12-2

November, 2012

The organizers of the Flat Classroom® are excited to announce the participating classrooms for the Digiteen Project 12-2 and the Digitween Project 12-2. These schools represent more than 750 students, from 3 countries, and runs September through December 2012. The project manager for this project is Theresa Allen with Sandy Wisneski as Collaborative Coach, and Sheryl Krengel as Community Builder.

The development of the Digitween project is a new initiative of project developers as it caters for students under 13 years of age and includes them in a private online community and collaborative wiki that also leads to a school based action project.

"Digital Citizenship is understanding effective, safe behaviors online that consider long term consequences and give students a method for understanding how to make decisions as new technologies and trends emerge at lightning speed," says Vicki Davis, classroom teacher and co founder of the Digiteen™ Project, a global collaborative project that has now harnessed the power of over 4,000 students from many countries. "Few things are more important than teaching students about effective behaviors online for the protection of them now and in the future."

Lindsay and Davis co-plan and manage the ‘Flat Classroom® Project’ for upper middle and high school students, A Week in the Life...’ Elementary Flat Classroom® Project for upper elementary students, the K-2 Building Bridges to Tomorrow Project for younger students, the Digiteen™ Project (digital citizenship for middle and high school students), the NetGen Ed™ Project, and the Eracism Project™ that involves middle school students in a virtual global debating event and the face-to-face Flat Classroom® Conference held regularly in various places around the world.
